Sheared bolt trick saved me a two-day tear down
Had a stubborn sheared bolt on a CFM56 fan cowl latch, snapped flush with the surface. Tried the usual drill and easy out, but it spun and made things worse. Then I remembered an old guy telling me to weld a nut onto what's left, even if it's just a tiny nub. Got the heat from a borrowed spot welder, welded the nut on, and it backed out in ten minutes flat. Anyone else use that trick instead of burning hours with a drill set?

Read about a guy doing the same thing on a marine diesel oil pan years ago. He said the weld heat actually loosens the corrosion and makes the bolt shrink just enough to break free. Most folks give up on easy outs way too early, but this trick works when there's nothing left to grab. If the nut welds hold, you're done in minutes instead of fighting it all afternoon.
