The Maple Grove mall job changed my whole wiring setup

Had a contract in Maple Grove last fall, 3 floors of retail with those pre-built alarm panels. Everyone swears by running all wires through the ceiling plenum first, but that job taught me the opposite, going wall-first saved us about 6 hours on each zone. The fire marshal there actually flagged our original plan and suggested the wall route, which I fought at first. Has anyone else had an inspector push them toward a method that ended up working better?

Did you catch the leak before the guy even noticed? That save my basement once.
