Why I photograph every alarm panel before closing it up
I got tired of guessing during service calls. A quick picture gives me a perfect map. Callbacks for wiring problems have dropped to zero.

Ever do that with a nest of tree trimmer wires? I started taking phone pics of my rig's control box before unplugging anything... saves me from mixing up the ignition and winch leads every single time.

That's smart. A guy at work does the same thing with control boards. Says it saves his butt at least once a month.

Save his butt once a month" really sells it short. I'd say it saves you from that special kind of panic where you're staring at a bird's nest of identical red wires, trying to remember which one goes where, and you just know the alarm will scream if you guess wrong. A photo is basically cheap insurance against creating your own little haunted house.
