Sandoval tree crew dropped a 40 foot cottonwood limb on my fence and the owner tried to dodge my calls
I hired a tree service out of Rio Rancho back on the 14th to take down a dead cottonwood in my backyard near Coors and Montano. The guy gave me a cash price of $850 and said they would haul everything off that same day. Around 2pm I hear a crack and a boom, and one of their guys had let a 40 foot limb fall right across my back fence and into the neighbor's yard, crushed about 15 feet of chain link. The owner told me not to worry, they would fix it, then stopped answering my calls for four days. I got a quote from a fence company on the west side for $1,100 to replace the section, sent it to him in a text, and he finally showed up with a check for $900 and two guys to patch it. Still not perfect, the gate drags now, but it beats paying it myself. Has anyone here had luck filing a complaint against a contractor with the state after something like this, or is small claims the only real move?
Guy gave you 900 bucks out of pocket and sent two guys to fix it, that is way more than most of these dirtbag tree crews do. Half of them would have blocked your number the second the limb hit the fence and you would be stuck eating the whole 1100. Taking him to small claims over 200 bucks and a dragging gate is gonna cost you more in time and fees than it is worth, and a state complaint will just sit in a pile for months anyway.
