Update: That anime cafe recipe everyone loves is overrated
I see posts all the time about how great the pancakes from that show are, but mine came out flat and soggy. Maybe the animation just makes food look better than it really is.

Honestly a lot of those viral recipes leave out key steps. The one from that cafe scene absolutely needs you to separate the eggs and beat the whites stiff before you fold them in. If you just mix everything together, yeah, you get a flat disk. It's not the animation lying, it's the recipe instructions being incomplete. I had the same issue until I tried that extra step.

Totally agree about viral recipes skipping steps. I tried making that cloud bread from a clip last year. Followed the video exactly, got a sad, dense pancake. Watched a proper baking channel later, realized they creamed the butter and sugar for five full minutes. Made all the difference, turned out light and fluffy. Now I always look for the quiet details everyone assumes you know.
