Warning: that $80 universal dryer belt I grabbed off Amazon
broke after 3 loads. I was trying to save a buck on a customer's Samsung dryer, figured hey a belt's a belt right? Wrong. The thing shredded and jammed up the idler pulley too. Had to go back and replace both parts, cost me double the time and a pissed off customer. Anyone else get burned by cheap universal parts from online?

Did you see that one Consumer Reports article where they tested universal belts and like half of them failed within the first 10 cycles? I mean, I get wanting to save money, but for something that spins as fast as a dryer drum, the cheap rubber just doesn't hold up. That Samsung belt is likely a specific size and tension rating for a reason, not just to make you pay more. I read that the universal ones are often made with a softer compound that stretches and shreds way faster.

My buddy's universal belt snapped mid-cycle and wrecked his drum bearing.
