DAE think crown reduction specs are a trap, or did I just waste 3 days on a red oak in Grand Rapids?
Spent 3 days last month trying to hit a reduction spec on a big red oak and it should have been a 4 hour job. The homeowner wanted no cuts over 4 inches and a set height, which meant I was up and down the tree with hand saws the whole time because my 201T just made a mess of the small stuff. Part of me says a proper reduction takes what it takes, but the other part says that spec was written by someone who has never held a rope. Do you bid these jobs high or just walk away?
