Rant: everyone says flush cuts heal best, but a client in Bend showed me his 9 year old oak stub cuts
I always heard flush cutting was the gold standard until an old client in Bend had me look at 3 oaks he'd had done 9 years back, and the flush cuts had big pockets of rot while the stub cuts sealed over fine. He just shrugged and said the tree knows how to close a wound if you leave it a collar. Anyone else seeing rot on flush cuts years down the road?
