Stood in line at Mesa Verde for 40 minutes just to see a wall built 800 years ago that still holds mortar
Went to Mesa Verde last spring and spent most of the day looking at cliff dwellings. What got me was the mortar between the stones in the walls. 800 years of wind and rain and that stuff is still holding tight. I do masonry repair on the side and I have seen 20 year old patios crumble. It makes me wonder what those builders knew that we forgot. Did they use a different sand mix or did they just take way more time than we ever would now?
