My brother told me to skip the moon and try for Jupiter instead
I was new to taking pictures of the sky and wanted a clear shot of the moon. My brother, who has a small telescope, said to wait a month and aim for Jupiter when it was high and bright. I listened, set up my camera on a tripod in my backyard last Tuesday, and got my first picture of Jupiter with its four big moons. It was way more exciting than I thought it would be. Has anyone else had a simple piece of advice lead to a much better photo?

Ever notice how the best advice is usually just telling you to look somewhere else? Your brother pointing you to Jupiter is a perfect example of that. What's a small tip that shifted your whole focus?

Shoot the sunrise" reminds me of a friend who told me to just point my camera at a storm rolling in... got a lightning shot by total luck.
