Pro tip: Charge your intervalometer before a long drive for night sky pics
I drove out to the desert to photograph the Milky Way arch last summer. Got all set up as the sun went down, then my intervalometer battery died right away. Spent the whole night hitting the shutter button every 30 seconds by hand, and I almost missed a cool shooting star because I was rubbing my cramping fingers. What's your worst gear fail while trying to get astro shots?

Ugh, I totally forgot my camera battery once and the Milky Way was right there. Had to watch it with my naked eyes like some peasant, lol.

Did you ever get so mad you almost threw your gear into the desert? I feel your pain with that intervalometer dying, because once my memory card corrupted right as the Milky Way peaked. Spent the next hour trying to recover files instead of shooting, and I missed a meteor shower. Your hand cramp story is too real, and it makes me wonder why we put ourselves through this for a few good photos. It's like we're always one dead battery away from disaster, and I swear I check my gear three times now before leaving. But then you catch that one shooting star and it almost feels worth it, even with the sore fingers.
