The $30 light pollution filter I wrote off for two years actually works

I kept seeing these cheap CLS filters online and figured they were a gimmick. Finally grabbed one last month for my DSLR and shot the Orion Nebula from my backyard in Atlanta. First image had way more detail than anything I'd pulled without it. Has anyone else had luck with these on city skies?

Honestly, that's good to know since I always assumed those cheap filters were just snake oil for beginners. What kind of light pollution level are you dealing with in Atlanta, like Bortle 7 or 8? Trying to figure out if it's worth grabbing one for my own setup in a similar zone.

My buddy in Bortle 8 Phoenix had one that worked way better than he expected.
