Hit 10k followers off one dumb pelican video, still confused

I posted a clip of a pelican stealing a bloke's chip at Manly Beach last Tuesday night, just for a laugh. Woke up to 10k new followers and the video sitting at 800k views by breakfast. My serious safety drill videos from work barely crack 200 views, but a bird eating junk food is apparently peak content. Anyone else accidentally blow up from something they thought was throwaway?
