Am I the only one who thinks blending clear over a fresh panel edge is backwards?
Had a 2019 Silverado come in last Tuesday at my shop in Bakersfield with a burn through on the bedside from the guy before me, and he had blended clear right up to the tape line instead of stopping short. What happens is the blend edge sits right on top of the repair, so any shrink or sand scratch shows up 6 months later when the sun hits it. I tape back 3 or 4 inches past the damage and melt the clear into the existing finish, so who else is doing it this way and getting called crazy for it?
