Am I the only one who watched a fender job go sideways 20 minutes before the customer showed up?
Was spraying a rear quarter on a silver Corolla at the shop on 7th street when my gun started spitting. Turned out a chunk of dried clear had broken loose inside the fluid tip, and it laid down about six inches of rough, cloudy spots right along the wheel arch. I had maybe 20 minutes before the guy pulled in, so I wet sanded it with 1500 by hand, hit it with a little polish, and somehow blended it good enough that he shook my hand and left happy. Still bugs me though, because I know that spot is going to look dull in a year. Anybody got a trick for catching junk in the tip before you pull the trigger, or do you just live with a filter and hope?
