Had to choose between welding a quarter panel or replacing it completely today

Man, I've been there. If the rust isn't too deep and the panel lines match up, welding can save you a ton of time and money. But if it's all bubbled up or there's hidden rot underneath, replacing it is the only way to stop it from coming back in six months. I always cut a window in the old panel first to peek at the backside before I commit. And if you weld it, make damn sure you grind those welds flat and use seam sealer or it'll haunt you later.

Nancy, what about sanding down to bare metal and using a rust converter first?
