Rant: I sprayed SPI epoxy over bare metal for 3 years before a painter in Tucson set me straight
I always scuffed with 80 grit and laid epoxy right on bare steel, figured that was just how it was done. A guy at a shop in Tucson watched me prep a quarter panel and said he always does a 180 finish first, because the epoxy bites better and he sees way fewer sand scratch swell spots after blocking. Is 180 your go to on bare metal, or do some of you still run 80 and get away with it?
