Update: my $11 tube of 3M panel bond held a cab corner better than 3 weeks of welding on the same truck
I did a rust repair on a 2009 Silverado cab corner back in March and tried both ways on two different trucks. The welded one took me six hours, warped a little, and needed filler and a skim coat to look straight. The one I did with 3M panel bond and a couple of clecos took maybe 90 minutes, and the seam came out flatter than anything I ever got with a torch. I always thought glue was for lazy shops but the bead on the back side is solid and no heat means no shrink. Is anyone else using panel bond on structural-ish spots like this or am I going to regret it in a year?
