Rant: dropped $70 on a "lifetime" brake caliper tool kit that snapped on the 2nd job
Bought a caliper piston tool kit online for $70 because the listing said lifetime warranty and it had good pics. Second car I used it on, a 2013 Civic, the threaded rod stripped smooth while I was pushing the piston back. Could not finish the brake job, had to borrow my neighbor's old tool and lost half a day on a Saturday. When I emailed the seller, they told me the warranty only covers "normal use" and wanted me to pay shipping both ways. So I am out $70 and two hours, what cheap tool bit you the hardest so I know what to skip next time?
Questioning if $70 and two hours is really the big loss here. You still got the brakes done with the neighbor's tool, so you're out a bit of cash and a Saturday morning, not the end of the world. The warranty thing is annoying but that's how most of those no-name sellers work, they count on you not wanting to pay shipping. Next time just grab a used OTC or OEM tool off marketplace for the same money and skip the mystery brand stuff.
