Spent $89 on a cheap car cover and my cat turned it into a scratching post in a week
So I finally got a car cover last month because my neighbor's tree keeps dropping sap on my hood and I was tired of scrubbing it off. Found one online for $89, thought I was being smart by skipping the $200 ones. Big mistake. My cat figured out the cover made a perfect tent and spent every night clawing at it, and by day 6 there were holes all across the roof section. The sap still got through the holes, plus now I had cat hair stuck to everything. I ended up buying a fitted one for $210 that has a strap underneath, and it's been fine for 2 months. Has anyone else had a pet destroy their cover, or am I the only one who failed at basic car protection?
$89 for a cover that your cat turned into confetti in six days really makes me wonder what the material was. Was it one of those thin polyester deals with the elastic hem, or the heavier woven kind? I ask because my sister's cat ignored her cheap cover completely but went nuts on the fitted one, so I'm trying to figure out if it's the tent shape or the fabric texture that gets them going. Did your cat only go after it at night, or was it clawing at it during the day too? And once you switched to the $210 one, did the cat just lose interest, or are you still fighting it off?
