Broker said 5 days, took 12, but the rate was still worth it

Shipped my F-150 from Denver to Boise last month and the broker quoted 5 days door to door. It sat at a yard in Salt Lake for a week because the driver kept pushing his pickup date. But I paid $850 versus the $1,100 the big carriers wanted, so honestly I'd do it again. Has anyone else found that cheaper brokers just pad the timeline to make up for the lower rate?

Is it just me, or does the waiting part feel like the real price you pay with those budget brokers? I totally get why you'd do it again, saving $250 is nothing to sneeze at, and the truck got there fine in the end. That yard in Salt Lake sounds super annoying though, I hate when they say one thing and then the driver just ghosts you for a week. I had a similar thing happen once, where the quoted time was way off but the final bill made my wallet happy. It's a trade-off for sure, but honestly, sometimes you just gotta weigh the stress against the savings and take the deal.
