Insured through the carrier instead of a broker, paid $740 more but zero stress

Every thread I see here says use a broker to bundle quotes and save cash. I tried that twice, once for a 2022 Tacoma from Denver to Portland and once for an old Corolla from Phoenix to Salt Lake. Both times the broker gave me a low number upfront, then the trucker showed up two days late asking for a cash top-up or the load wasnt happening. Third time, I went direct with a carrier that had its own insurance and dispatch. Paid $740 more than the broker quote, but the truck arrived within the 3 hour window and the driver handled every document himself. No middleman to chase, no surprise fees. Maybe I got lucky twice with bad brokers, but my experience says the extra money bought accountability. Has anyone else gone direct and seen the same tradeoff, or did I just overpay for nothing?

Brokers don't set truck arrival times, buddy. That's on the carrier either way.
