My buddy who ships 50 cars a month told me open transport is bad for business

He said every covered carrier he knows is booked 3 weeks out and the markup pays for itself in damage claims avoided. Anyone else see it that way or is he just paranoid?

Ive seen way more damage claims on covered carriers vs open.

Yeah that's actually a common mixup @blairtaylor. The last numbers from a major transport survey showed open carriers had about 1.2% damage claims while covered was around 0.7%. The thing is covered carriers usually haul more luxury cars which might make people think they get damaged more. But the actual rate is lower because of the extra protection from weather and road debris.
