I finally had to pick between cedar and pressure treated for a whole backyard job

Actually cedar grays naturally while pressure treated turns more yellow, not green. William_henderson is right that you can stain them to match if needed.

Working on a farm truck in Nebraska last month showed me something about old diesel injectors

How many shops just don't want to do the actual work? That's pure laziness. Calling a major mechanical fault "character" is a joke. It happens all the time because the diag stops at a scan tool. If it runs and makes money, some guys just kick the can down the road. The customer pays for that later when it finally lets go. Good on you for actually fixing it right.

My grad school dig in Turkey three years ago turned up a truly ancient snack

Honestly though, is logging that stuff even important? Like they're just old olive pits. I get it's history but come on, a whole day for that? Seems like busywork to me. Maybe the professor had a point about finding boring things.

Just blew $500 on a 'can't miss' crypto tip from a guy in a Discord group. It missed.

Look at it from the wolf guy's side. He saw a chance and shared it. Jake made his own choice to buy. That's on him. Markets go up and down all the time. You can't blame a random tip for a bad trade.

Question about using a different grade of rod on old boiler plate

Honestly, do you think that buffer layer also helps with the stress from the different expansion rates between old and new metal?
