That time a dispatcher in Ohio told me to ignore the load board estimate

I was shipping my old Honda from Columbus to Phoenix and the load board said around $1,100. Guy from Apex Auto Transport named Rick told me to ignore it and just book for $800 because they'd find a driver. Well, three cancellations later and two weeks wasted, I ended up paying $1,300 anyway. Has anyone else had a dispatcher give bad advice like that?

Got a similar runaround when I tried to ship a car from Detroit to Denver... the dispatcher said to ignore the estimated price too and I'd save a bundle. Ended up waiting almost three weeks while drivers kept backing out at the last minute and my final bill was way higher than the original quote. Learned my lesson to always get a written guarantee from the broker before booking anything.

Honestly, I used to think people were just being dramatic about brokers, but @murphy.linda your story totally changed my mind. I always figured a quote was a quote, you know? But waiting three weeks and paying more sounds like a nightmare. Now I'm definitely going to ask for a written guarantee before I even consider shipping anything. Ngl, that's solid advice I wish I'd heard sooner.
