Crimp die wear finally made sense after a 737 trim job
We had a 737 in last month with intermittent readings on the elevator position sensor. I checked every connection twice, swapped the sensor, still nothing. turns out my old DMC crimp die had worn just enough to make an oval barrel on a 20 gauge wire. swapped in a brand new die, recrimped all the pins in that harness, and the fault cleared on the first power up. it cost me about a day of chasing, plus a $90 set of dies, but the real lesson was checking the die with a go/no go gauge before anything else. has anyone else seen intermittent faults that came down to worn tooling instead of the actual part?
