Saw a guy using a cast iron skillet as a tent stake hammer at Big Sur last month

Dude at Big Sur last month probably just forgot his mallet and didn't want to walk back a mile to the car. Cast iron is tough as nails, it'll survive a few whacks on a tent peg. I've seen way worse, like people trying to hammer stakes with rocks that shatter into sharp pieces. Give the guy a break, it's not like he was using grandma's vintage heirloom skillet. Let's save the outrage for real camping disasters, like forgetting the toilet paper.

Arc fault breaker kept tripping on a brand new circuit

Nah, shouldn't the safety device be working right no matter what you plug in?

Hit 200 residential installs yesterday and something felt off

feeling safe" is exactly it man. I stopped fighting cheap panels and just made sure the monitoring was solid.

Savvy trick saved me 2 hours on this tricky L-shaped staircase

Oh man, pre-cutting those strips is a solid move. I've been doing similar stuff on stairs for years, especially on L-shaped runs where the tape has to bend around a nosing. The key for me is cutting them just a hair longer than the gap and then pressing the tape down with a putty knife into that corner before the glue sets. Saves you from fighting with the tape bunching up when you're trying to wrap around a tight turn. Another trick I picked up is using a heat gun on low for a few seconds on the tape before cutting, helps it conform to the angle without pulling away.

Warning: I binged a whole season before realizing I was watching on 1.5x speed the whole time

Laughing but also cringing because THIS happened to me with The Walking Dead. I watched an entire season at 1.25x speed and just thought the dialogue was snappy and everyone was extra anxious. Didn't catch it until my friend asked why Rick Grimes sounded like he was on a caffeine drip. Here's the fix - check your playback settings in the bottom right corner of the video player, it's usually an icon that looks like a little speedometer. I swear Netflix and Amazon need to add a "kid proof" lock on those controls because toddlers are REMOTE GREMLINS. Also, try resetting your queue by going to your activity history and marking episodes as "unwatched" so you can properly rewatch the whole thing at normal speed - that's what saved my sanity. Now I double check the speed icon every time I start a new show, no exceptions.
