I finally ditched the mirror check and went with the calibrated test set for pitot heat
My old lead at the hangar in Tulsa swore a visual on the probe was good enough, but after two squawks on the same morning I switched to the test box and found a heater drawing 3 amps low, so now I want to know who else has been burned by trusting the eyeball method.
