Spent a week hating AOG calls, one 7 a.m. rescue changed my mind

Used to dread the after-hours emergency requests, especially when it's just a loose cannon plug on a CRJ at DFW. Last Tuesday I got a bird strike that fried the weather radar, and the pilot had a hard slot home. Got it swapped in 40 minutes flat, and the captain actually came back to shake my hand. Anyone else have that one job that makes the grief worth it?
