Warning: Tried a new contact cleaner on some old cannon plugs and it went weird
I was working on a 737's comm panel last month and grabbed this new brand of contact cleaner, 'AeroClean Pro', from the supply truck. Sprayed it on some crusty 20-pin cannon plugs like normal, but instead of drying clear, it left this white, powdery film all over the pins. Had to go back and scrub every single pin with a fiberglass brush, which added like an extra hour to the job. The can says it's safe for avionics, but I'm not buying it again. Has anyone else had a cleaner react like that, or is there a brand you trust for old connectors?

Check the MSDS sheet for that AeroClean Pro, some formulas have a carrier that evaporates and leaves residue in humid conditions.

I've actually used the AeroClean Pro in high humidity areas for months. The residue thing might be from older batches, but my recent cans leave a clear finish even in my basement workshop. I check for streaking on glass and haven't seen it. Their formula update last year really fixed that issue for me.
