Why does nobody talk about the washed out bridge on the Eagle Rock loop in Arkansas
Hiked the Eagle Rock loop near Mena, Arkansas last weekend with two buddies and we hit a creek crossing around mile 7 where the footbridge is just gone, only two steel posts left sticking out of the water. Three years ago I did this same loop and that bridge was fine, so it must have washed out in one of the big spring floods and nobody has fixed it. We ended up wading thigh deep with packs on, which was fine in October but would be scary in high water. The Forest Service site still lists the loop as a full route with no warning. Has anyone else crossed there this fall, and is there a marked detour I missed?
