Warning: spent $340 on a kit greenhouse that turned into a kite in one storm
Bought one of those pop up greenhouses off a Facebook ad back in April for my tomatoes and it lasted 6 weeks. Wind gust hit 40 mph here in Tulsa and the whole frame folded, plus two of my starter trays went flying into the neighbor's yard. Has anyone built a hoop house that actually holds up without costing a grand?
What kind of ground are you working with out there? That matters more than the kit itself, because if your soil is soft or you are on a slope, no amount of zip ties and paracord is gonna save a cheap frame when the next gust rolls through. Also, how deep did you sink your posts on the last one, or was it just sitting on the surface? Six weeks tells me the anchors were the weak point, not the cover. Give me those two details and I can tell you if a DIY hoop house is even worth your time.
