TIL the room makes bad movies funnier, not the movie itself
I used to think I hated bad movies until I moved our watch party from the living room TV to the garage with a sheet stapled to the wall. Around 6 months ago my buddy Dale started bringing his projector over every other Friday, and the whole vibe flipped. Turns out watching a cheesy flick in a bright room on a 55 inch screen just feels sad, but blowing it up to 100 inches in the dark makes every goofy line land. Same movies, same people, totally different night. Anyone else notice their setup matters more than the pick?
Man, this is so real it hurts. I had a buddy who swore up and down that Troll 2 was comedy gold, but when we watched it on his laptop in a half-lit room with his roommate doing dishes in the background, it was just boring. Then we dragged a bedsheet over to his basement, killed every light, and suddenly the same dumb scene with the popcorn had all of us on the floor. It's like the dark does half the work for you. A big dumb screen and no distractions turns a bad movie into an event instead of a chore.
