My $90 proofing box never got above 70 degrees

I ordered a cheap proofing box off a random website last month, and it showed up with a dead heating element inside. I lost $90 on the thing plus two batches of sourdough that never rose. The box warmed up to around 70 degrees and just sat there, useless. Has anyone else had luck with a cheaper alternative, or should I just stick to the oven with a pan of hot water?
