Lost $200 on a 'verified' payment app transfer and got ghosted
Used a new payment app my buddy recommended to send $200 to a guy selling concert tickets on Facebook, and the transfer went through but the money never reached him and support won't answer me. Anyone else had issues with peer-to-peer services that claim to be safe but leave you hanging with zero protection?

Man, that sucks. @morganhill nailed it. Those apps are just fancy envelopes for cash. They don't care who gets paid. You're basically mailing cash to a stranger. No receipts, no bank to call, nothing. Facebook is full of scammers selling tickets. Next time, only do cash in person or use PayPal Goods and Services with a real invoice.

Facebook Marketplace has zero buyer protection. Learned that the hard way last year when I sent $150 for a kayak that didn't exist. These peer-to-peer apps aren't banks. They're basically just digital wallets. You're on your own if something goes wrong.
