Remember when we had to mail actual checks for utility bills? I miss nothing about that.
I was thinking back to 2005 when I used to sit down every first of the month with a stack of envelopes and a checkbook. Writing out 8 or 9 checks for rent, power, water, internet, and then hunting down stamps... it ate up a good 45 minutes at minimum. Now I just open my banking app in bed and auto-pay everything in maybe 3 minutes flat. The change happened around 2012 when my credit union finally got a decent mobile app with bill pay built in. Has anyone else here gone fully paperless and never looked back, or do you still keep one bill mailed just as a backup?

It's wild how fast we forget the little time sinks like that. My grandma still writes checks for everything and it takes her like an hour, but I think that whole generation had a different relationship with time and chores. We just traded one set of annoying habits for different ones you know, like now we stare at a screen for everything instead of finding stamps.

Gotta gently disagree with you there @margaret_williams5... my grandma was writing checks way faster than an hour, she had it down to a science with the carbon copy book and everything. But you're right that we swapped one kind of hassle for another, just different flavors of the same slow grind.
