Why does nobody talk about how stacked JPEGs ruin deep space nebula shots

Did you save it as a PNG instead? I learned that one the hard way too.

Lost $600 on a foundation repair that didn't even fix the crack

600 bucks up front for a foundation job in Mill Woods? That's a huge red flag right there. Dave probably put in a cheap polyurethane foam instead of the actual epoxy injection that job needed.

Vent: Bought a $50 blue checkmark for 2 days of cringe and regret.

@shane655 you make a good point but heres something i always wonder about this whole thing. Do we even know what real satisfaction looks like anymore or are we just so used to the quick hits that we forgot? Its like we keep buying these things to fill a hole that was never supposed to be filled with stuff in the first place. The coffees and streaming services are just the surface level symptoms of something deeper honestly. Maybe the real trap is not knowing what we actually want versus what someone told us to want.

Saw a panel swap go from disaster to clean in 45 minutes

Always good advice from @the_holly there. I saw a post from a guy on another forum who used a shop vac with a special tip to suck up the cut wire bits as he went. Said it saved him hours of sweeping and fishing little pieces out of drywall later. That bandsaw trick is nice for speed, but the real win is having a plan for all those messy leftover chunks. Otherwise you're right, you just push the problem down the road.

Noticed a big difference in my brake shoe wear after switching to a different lubricant

Does your buddy ever mess with those old Otis units too? I got a friend who runs a small shop and he swapped grease on a MRL setup a couple years back. He was having the same problem, shoes glazing over every 4 months, thought it was just the heat from the machine room. Switched to a synthetic, went 10 months before he even looked at them again, and they were barely worn. Said the ride got so smooth the tenant on the top floor actually asked if he'd replaced the whole motor.
