Remember when you had to call the bank to check a pending charge?

I had a $47 gas station hold stuck for over a week back in 2018, and my old bank's app just showed 'processing'. I finally just sent a direct message through their Twitter support, and they cleared it in an hour. Does that still work, or are the help desks all bots now?
