Shoutout to the credit union teller who caught a weird transfer last Friday

Was at my local branch in Tacoma moving $500 to a new savings account. The teller, Sarah, paused and asked if I really meant to send it to an account I'd never used before. Turns out I'd copied the wrong number from my notes. She saved me a huge headache and a long call to fix it. Has a bank worker ever caught a mistake for you before you sent it?

Honestly, that's just basic job stuff though, right? Like a cashier catching if you hand them a $10 instead of a $20. My bank has those extra confirm screens for new accounts anyway. Was it really a close call, or just normal procedure slowing you down? What made it seem so sketchy to her?

That "normal procedure" can feel super weird when it's your own money on the line.

Yeah but that's just the system flagging a new payee, happens all the time. Most banks make you confirm the details twice for a first time transfer. Sounds like she was just following the prompts on her screen, not some amazing detective work.
