PSA: A viewer commented 'your captions look like a ransom note' and it fixed my whole feed
Last week I posted a 30 second clip on a Tuesday and one commenter just wrote 'your captions look like a ransom note' with no other feedback. I switched from random fonts and colors to one clean font with a white bar behind it, and my saves went from 4 to 61 on the next clip. Is anyone else seeing better reach just from cleaning up captions, or is that just a fluke on my end?
Watching how people scroll past is what really changed things for me. That ransom note look actually stops the thumb because your eye is trying to decode the mess, but it stops it in a bad way, like confusion not interest. Same thing with the white bar, it works because it separates your words from whatever chaos is behind them, so the brain reads instead of squints. The saves going from 4 to 61 makes sense too, people save stuff they can actually read later without pausing to figure out what font says what. My guess is the commenter did you a huge favor without even meaning to, because most viewers never tell you why they bounced.
