Took me 3 months to figure out my Instagram captions were killing my reach, and it was one dumb thing
I kept wondering why my reels would get 200 views and die while other people with worse content hit 10k. Turned out I was putting hashtags in the caption instead of the first comment, and I also had a link in every single post which tanks you. Fixed both last Tuesday and my last reel hit 4,100 views in a day. Has anyone else tested the hashtag in caption vs comment thing, or is it just luck for me?
Getting hashtags out of the caption and into the first comment is only half of it. The real fix is to stop treating every post the same way. Links in the caption for sure hurt, but you also want to check if those hashtags are even good ones. A lot of people just copy the same 30 tags over and over and that reads as spam to the app. Try cutting down to like 5 that actually match the post and see if the comment trick works even better. Also switch up which comment you drop them in, sometimes first, sometimes you reply to your own comment. Keeps it from looking like a bot pattern.
