Just rebuilt a 1992 Rockhopper that sat in a garage for a decade

The headset was so seized I had to use a hammer and punch, but after a full tear-down and new grease, it spins smoother than my modern bike. Is a perfectly restored vintage frame actually more satisfying than building up something brand new?

Watched a buddy spend months bringing a rusted-out '88 Stumpjumper back from the dead. He practically lived with that frame, hand-polishing every scratch and hunting for period-correct parts. The day he finally took it for its first ride, the grin on his face was bigger than when he bought his new carbon bike. There's just something about giving an old machine a second life that a fresh build can't touch.

Seth's missing the point. The time spent is the whole reward.

But what about the time and money he wasted? Could've just bought a new bike that actually works right.
