My brother's simple hack made me stop dodging family help on bikes

He had a faster way to line up brake pads that actually worked. Now I loop him in when I'm stuck on a repair.

Notice how often we make things harder by being stubborn. I used to avoid asking for help with small house stuff because I assumed it was complicated. Turns out my neighbor had a one step fix for a leaky faucet I'd been fighting for weeks. Sometimes it's just pride stopping us from asking for a simpler way.

Sometimes figuring things out on your own teaches you more than any quick fix. Relying on others for every small problem can make you need them and skip the learning. @the_matthew talked about pride stopping us, but that same pride can push you to get good at skills by trying hard. When you solve a repair yourself, you gain trust in your own ability and a better grip on how things work. Asking for help might save time now, but it could cost you good learning later on. Learning to fix your own bike or faucet builds real skill that stays with you.

Watch how this same fight happens with cooking recipes too.
