Pro tip: I just wasted $80 on a 'universal' bottom bracket tool that didn't fit a single bike in my shop.
The spline pattern was off by maybe a millimeter, but that was enough to strip the edges on a customer's BB30 and cost me an extra hour of work to fix, so has anyone found a truly reliable brand for oddball bottom brackets?

That "universal" label is such a trap sometimes.

I get what you mean about the trap, but a truly universal tool is a lifesaver in a home shop. My Abbey Tools CRW-1 has handled everything from old square taper to BB30 without a hiccup. The key is finding one that's actually built for the weird standards, not just labeled that way.

Yeah, @bettywood is right about that trap. Which brand was the tool that messed up the BB30? I've got a Park Tool one that's been okay, but I'm always nervous with the weird ones.
