I used to watch shows one at a time, now I juggle 4 and finish none
Back in 2019 I sat down and watched all of Breaking Bad in 11 days. One show, no switching, done. Now I have 4 shows going at once, Better Call Saul, The Bear, Severance, and some British crime thing I already forgot the name of, and I have not finished any of them since March. I think streaming apps did this to me. Every time I open one, the homepage shoves 6 new recommendations at me and I click away from what I was watching. Last week I sat down to finish one episode of Severance and ended up starting a whole new show instead. I even made a rule that I can only watch one show at a time but it lasted about 4 days. Is anyone else stuck in this loop or do you actually finish what you start?
What was different about 2019 that made it possible to just sit with one show all the way through? Was it that there were fewer apps fighting for your attention, or did you just have more free time and less stress back then? Because four shows since March with none finished sounds less like a streaming problem and more like something changed in how you relax. Do you actually want to finish these shows, or has starting new ones become its own habit that feels good in the moment? Next time you sit down, what happens if you close the app right after picking your show instead of scrolling the homepage first?
