Spent 6 weeks fighting a stubborn weld crack that turned out to be a draft issue
I run a small shop outside Pittsburgh and took on a repair job for a farm gate back in March. The crack kept reappearing no matter how I prepped the steel, tried different rods, even switched to a mig setup. After six weeks of grinding, rewelding, and cursing, I found out the problem was the barn door it was mounted to was sagging, so every gust of wind twisted the frame. Fixing the door hinges took 20 minutes. Anyone else ever chase a weld problem that wasn't actually a weld problem?
