That one Tuesday where every weld just clicked, then the anvil cracked
Last week I had a full day of clean forge welds, no scale issues, even a tricky damascus billet behaved, and then my 120-year-old anvil let go with a hairline crack right across the face at 4pm. Has anyone else had a perfect day ruined by equipment failure, or am I just cursed?
That "hairline crack right across the face" line made me wince, that's a rough way to end a good day. Old anvils don't give you a warning, they just quit when the work is finally going your way. Mine didn't crack but it walked off the stump mid weld once, so no, you're not cursed.
