Board game marathons left me with a nasty wrist strain

In my experience, we often sit for way too long during game nights without moving. I had a sharp pain in my wrist last week from shuffling cards for hours on end. Your mileage may vary, but repetitive stuff like rolling dice or picking up pieces can cause real trouble. Take this with a grain of salt, but I've seen other geeks deal with sore backs or stiff necks from hunching over boards. For example, my friend got a headache from focusing hard on small text in a rulebook. It's easy to get lost in the fun and forget our bodies need care. Let's all try to stand up and stretch a little between turns to avoid these issues.

Remember my buddy who got tennis elbow from dice? He was rolling for three hours straight during a Catan tournament. Could barely lift his coffee mug the next morning. Makes you realize even simple moves need a break.

Yikes, your friend went all out for Catan. Guess even game night needs warm-up stretches now...

Most people don't consider how dice weight and grip play into repetitive strain. @grayc27's point about stretches is good, but using lighter dice or alternating hands could help too. I've seen tournament players use foam dice for longer sessions to cut down on impact. It's all about small changes to avoid injuries like tennis elbow.
