One comment about my dice tray pacing changed how I run every game now
Last month at our local shop night, a player said, "You rush past the quiet moments too fast." I always thought keeping things moving made games more fun. After that, I started pausing 5 extra seconds after big reveals or failed rolls. Now the group actually leans in and talks about what might happen next, instead of just rolling through turns. Anyone else get feedback like this that flipped how they GM?

Ever notice how the best moments in a game happen when nobody says anything? That pause after a crit fail or a shocking reveal is where the real story lives. I started doing the same thing, counting to five in my head after anything big happens. Now my players stare at the dice like it’s a crime scene instead of just grabbing them for the next roll. It feels weird at first, but that silence is pure gold.
