The guy at my game store told me my copy of Ticket to Ride was 'missing the best part' and handed me a Sharpie
I was at Game Nook in Portland last month trading in some old boxes when the owner pulled my copy of Ticket to Ride off the counter and said the routes were fine but the real game was in the trash talk, so he wrote house rule names on the board in marker. He made me keep it and now my group plays 'wife gets double points' and 'whoever blocks Dave buys nachos' and it somehow made a 3 year old game feel brand new. What house rules have you scribbled on a board that actually stuck with your group?
My buddy wrote "whoever loses buys the next round" on our Risk board back in 2019 and it's still the only rule anyone follows. I've bought so many rounds I'm basically funding the bar at this point.
